Notice of Annual General Meeting 2025

The 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Old Bega Hospital Inc will be held at 12.30pm on Tuesday 9 December, 2025 at the Women’s Ward in the main building at the Old Bega Hospital, 3 Corkhill Place, Bega.

Agenda

  1. Opening of Meeting
  2. To confirm the minutes of previous general meeting, the 2024 AGM held on Tuesday 12th November, 2024.
  3. To receive from the committee reports on the activities of the association during the last preceding financial year, the year ending 30th June, 2025.To receive and consider the financial statement and report.
  4. To elect office bearers of the association and ordinary committee members.
  5. General business.

Explanatory Notes

  1. Article 31 of the Friends constitution (which is the associations model constitution) requires 5 financial members to be present to constitute a quorum.  New or non-financial members should contact the Secretary (friends@obh.org.au) to pay the annual dues ($10) before the meeting.
  2. For agenda item 2,the draft minutes of the 2024 AGM are attached at Attachment A below.
  3. For agenda item 3, the report on activities at Attachment B below.
  4. For agenda item 4, the financial statements are at Attachment C below. The Friends is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC). Registered charities must lodge an Annual Information Statement (and financial statements if required) with the ACNC for each financial year.
  5. For agenda item 5, the office bearers of the association are set out in article 14 of the constitution. To be elected are:

Article 15 of the constitution sets out the processes for nominations and election.  The only requirements for nominations are that they must be made in writing, be signed by 2 members of the association, and be accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (which may be endorsed on the form of the nomination); and that nominations should be sent to the Secretary 7 days before the meeting.  There is no specific nomination form (but there is a form at Attachment D which you could use). If insufficient nominations are received to fill all vacancies, the candidates nominated are taken to be elected, and a call for further nominations must be made at the meeting.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT FOR 2024/2025 TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDS OF THE OLD BEGA HOSPITAL ON 9TH DECEMBER, 2025

 

Dear Friends,

What a 12 months we have just had, with the official opening on the 25th June and our community open day on the 26th June.

As I am writing this report, we have just successfully had our first Spring into Summer Family Fair, a great day on all accounts.  The fair was a change to our past “Raise the Roof” fairs, with the introduction of some new events – a flower show, and the Cake with a Story competition.  I would like to thank the committee of Friends for their dedication and time given to make these events successful, as well as the many other volunteers and all those who contributed towards the events.

The Friends have contributed much towards the fitting out of the community kitchen, so it is now available for use by community groups as a fully operational commercial kitchen.

We have also had volunteers, “Garden Buddies”, who meet on the last Saturday of each month and have mulched and planted out the northern boundary (with the assistance of Landcare).

I would like to acknowledge John Reynolds’ involvement with Friends over many years and wish him well in the future.  If any Friends’ members would like to be further involved and join our committee, we need someone to fill the position of Treasurer.
